Abstract: From last decades of the 20th century to the early 21st century, Stylistics, as a discipline and research area, has sought to redefine its theoretical bases and the methodologies it entailed by incorporating in its categories textual and discursive elements. In Brazil, an example of this movement, is the introduction, by Martins (2008), of the enunciation within divisions (sound, word, sentence) traditionally perceived as part of Stylistics. This new perspective led to the reconsidering of the Stylistics of Language (Bally, Mattoso among others); bringing to this discipline the concepts of text and interaction. Such displacement demanded that the elements such as time, space, as well as mediate and immediate situational aspects, should now be taken into consideration in Stylic studies. Rather than merely expand the list of objects of study, the goal of this new perspective is to identify, for each of the objects considered for analysis, how stylistic choices were made, given the many elements involved in this operation: textual genre; ethos of the enunciator; network of genres and roles designed to the user of the language; situation of enunciation. This symposium aims at bringing together stylistic analyses that share with the research group “Stylistic Studies” (master’s degree in Linguistics from Unicsul) the same concern with examinining choice and expressiveness in texts of different genres.
