Title: GRAMMAR AS A LINGUISTICS TOOL: MEMORY AND SPEECH.

Abstract: Grammar and dictionaries are linguistics tools (Auroux, 1998) that the speakers turn when they need help on certain linguistic uses, because in them are gathered not only knowledge about language but also description of linguistic facts, that can help speakers to solve questions about the formulation language of your text (oral or written). In addition, the grammar is a repository of knowledge built on historical languages, that is, the grammar keeps the memory of what was built on the language on the long length of time. They are also cultural instruments because they bring, by the grammarian’s speech, and by the examples that use, the story of a time, revealing values, theories and philosophies that were in force at a given time. In the proposed seminar will be presented and discussed researches dealing with history of grammar, language ideas and speech that it contains.
