Abstract: The objective of this symposium is to discuss aspects dealing with the role of the Portuguese language as a constructor element of cultural and social identity of the subject in Lusophone countries (and in other areas of the Diaspora), outlining a panel of different rules of Portuguese, reflecting about language policies developed and searching for an understanding of the relationship between Lusophone discourse and national consciousness. This symposium is also about research and experiences that focus on the diffusion of the Portuguese language in multilingual contexts and reflections on the internationalization of the Portuguese in the XXI century.
