Title: MEDIA, NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND EDUCATION : POSSIBLE INTERFACES

Abstract: With the publication of the PCN (1998), there was great concern about engaging students in the classroom with activities involving discourse genres, trying to make the teaching and learning process more meaningful. Currently, there are several scientific research works seeking to analyze, interpret and understand the interfaces between discourse genres, new technologies and media in the teaching and learning process since the spread idea that the resources offered by different technologies and the media – print and digital – (do not) hinder the development of reading and writing skills of the students, regardless of grade level, i.e., elementary school or undergraduate or postgraduate courses. This symposium welcomes works undertaking theoretical and methodological issues concerning the development and improvement of different skills in the education* process, highlighting the interfaces between the linguistic and discursive resources used and the specifications of technological resources that they provide. Works whose theme involves the teaching and learning process dealing with new technologies and media will be accepted. Researches carrying out the analysis of discourse genres whose support is media-driven – print and / or digital – will also be accepted. Stimulated by the discussions, we intend to contribute to the promotion of exchanges among researchers whose object of interest is major technological advancements in the teaching and learning process.
